It’s almost time! Red cup season is right around the corner, so it’s time to put down the iced latte and think about drinks made to warm you up when the leaves turn and the cooler winds start to blow. You probably already know how this list is going to start, so here’s our quick countdown on the top 5 drinks you’ll want this autumn in no particular order! (Do note: Starbucks may not bring back all of these drinks this year. They’re a bit fickle like that.)
Not Appearing On This List: Pumpkin Spice Latte
It’s just too easy to include, so the pumpkin spice will be sitting on the shelf this season. Sure, it’s tasty, but you have to expand your horizons. It won’t hurt, promise. Deep breath. Let’s take a look at a few drinks you may not have tried yet.
Salted Caramel Mocha
Still want something sweet? Salted caramel is the answer. Sure, the salt may seem counter-intuitive, but it actually helps us process flavors better than those flavors on their own, even if it’s something sweet. It’s like caramel but ever so much more so and it’s got a bit of chocolate in there to boot.
Steamed Apple Cider
This one’s less of a seasonal recipe and more of a secret menu option. Ask for a steamed apple juice (which is really a thing, promise!) and add a pump of chai or cinnamon dolce syrup. Whipped cream on top is optional, but pairing it with a doughnut isn’t. It’s not exactly cider but you’ll hardly notice the difference!
Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Peppermint bark lovers can finally get their favorite treat in drink form. It’s rich and sweet without being cloyingly so and works wonders for people who aren’t fans of coffee.
Pumpkin Spice Latte
Okay, fine, you can have the pumpkin spice. It’s a fall classic for good reason: It’s deliciously spiced and conjures up images of pumpkin pie with every sip. Just promise you’ll try the other drinks before you fall back to the old standby, will you? Mom’s starting to worry about your holiday pumpkin intake and how might stifle the local gourd market this year.
Starbucks drinks are our favorite way to ring in the holiday seasons – from Halloween to Christmas, Starbucks has a drink to fit any month. It’s their thing. And if you’re hankering for some other lovely coffee beverages for the season, check out Dunkin Donuts or don’t forget to check out your Starbucks at Target or Barnes&Noble.
